15 Hours in New York City

A Seersucker State of Mind

To say I am excited to write this post is an understatement! I am so happy to say that I finally visited The Big Apple. I went on a one day tour trip with some of my friends, and we had a blast. Besides our feet and whole body aching, we had so much fun. I, especially, loved shopping until I dropped. Seriously, those bags were heavy. It was an amazing experience, and I highly recommend taking a trip up there. That one day made me completely fall in love with the city. Although SantaCon was going on and some people were a bit crazy, it was not as horrible as I thought it might be.
Because we only had fifteen hours to explore, we were not able to do everything planned. We arrived in the city at 7 AM. We traveled through the night, so I awoke to the most beautiful sunrise.

The first thing we did was walk around Times Square, because we were dropped off at that area. We stood in front of this jumbo-tron until we finally got up on the screen!  Yes, we stood there for about ten minutes for a 20 second feature on the screen. I could not help but look up everywhere I went. NYC is nothing like North Carolina. I was very surprised on how it was not the busy yet, but that probably had to do with the fact that it was 7 o'clock in the morning. The first thing that we visited was the F.A.O. Schwartz Toy Store. If you are an annual 'Home Alone' watcher like I am, you might know that this is the toy store that they filmed in.

I have really bad memory, so I am not sure if this was the next thing we did. We did go into a few wholesale shops. We made our way to the famous Rockefeller Center.  I found out where all the people were. We, originally, planned to go ice skating, but the line was huge! I really did not feel like making a fool out of myself anyways. Props to those who can immediately get on the ice and skate. It takes me about ten minutes to get use to the ice. Even though the tree was not lit, it was still gorgeous. Buildings here in North Carolina are small than that tree!

We took a double decker bus to explore more of the city. We went downtown, to Houston, Soho, and basically just drove around everywhere. By the time we got off the bus, I was definitely ready to go shopping after we passed all the famous shops of New York. We actually did not go shopping until the evening. Again, we explored some more on feet. We walked down Manhattan and pass Central Park. Oh, I forgot to mention, I had my first subway experience. It was definitely an experience. If I had the choice of going on it or not, I would prefer not taking the subway. I guess the subway just comes with one's NYC experience.

Considering, I do not like heights at all, walking the Brooklyn Bridge was quite scary. Nevertheless, the view was gorgeous. I am so glad I conquered that fear. I still cannot get over how beautiful the city is. I really cannot wait to go back.

I was most excited to go to Little Italy and eat lunch. Unfortunately, we did not get the chance to do that. Instead, we did some shopping in China Town. I learned to not buy anything for the original but bargain for it. I think I did a pretty good job. If you want to go souvenir shopping in NYC, go to China Town for some great prices.

After leaving China Town, we could finally stop holding onto all our bags as hard, and we walked down the street to find somewhere to eat. We walked down Soho and were on the look out for celebrities. Sadly, we did not spot Karlie Kloss or Joe Jonas. We actually passed an area where they were filming for I believe this comedy show. I completely forgot what they were filming, but I think I got my five seconds of fame. We stopped by this burger place called 'The Counter'. It was super crowded, but it was so worth it. 'The Counter' allows you to build your own burger. I tried out a vegan burger. It was so good! I definitely recommend this place. They have so many options.

My friend and I practically ran out of the restaraunt, because we could finally go shopping. There was a three story Forever 21, HM, and four story Victoria's Secret! I kind of went crazy, but I did get a lot of Christmas shopping done. We visited the famous Macy's and went to all of the floors of the nine story store. Yes, my feet were dying. I was basically limping.

Our fifteen hours were coming to an end, and we decided to visit the Rockefellar tree again. The city lit up is so gorgeous! I love Christmas lights in general! These ones were absolutely jaw dropping.

I had such a great time in New York and cannot wait to visit it again. I was a little sad that we could not hit everything, but we only had fifteen hours. Next time, I cannot wait to get some macarons from Laduree. Have you ever visited New York City? If so, where are your favorite places to visit there?

xoxo,
