Be of Purpose

December 17, 2015

I was prompted by the Lord to sit down this afternoon and just talk to y'all -- to be real with you all. I have recently found emails in my inbox, direct messages, and tagged post saying how they have been loving my devotionals, that they want to get more into the Bible, or that they were inspired to take action because of those posts. I, honestly, am so overwhelmed with this fact that through me God is working in other people's lives. How crazy is that?! I am a sixteen year old who one day clicked 'create account' on blogger. Today, I really just wanted to talk to you all about our purpose on this earth.

You might notice that I use the word 'purpose' frequently. I am actually thinking about my word to live out in 2016. I think it may be "purposeful" or "relevant". I feel like this is very common especially in one's teenage years -- you do not really know your purpose. You do not know how to leave your mark on this earth. I have always been very weary of what other people think of me. I may have not said it, but I was always concerned with people's thoughts of me. Was it good or was it bad? Did they get a good vibe from me? Am I leaving the impression that I am saved by Grace and trust Jesus as my Lord and Savior? Am I setting a good example? Every action that I did, I was thinking of what others would think of it.  That's where I was wrong. I was not acting out for the right purpose. I was acting out for the world and not for God.

I was not looking at Christ to show me what I was truly here for. I was looking to the world. Again, that was wrong on my part. I was seeking approval from a place where I do not belong.
Ephesians 1:11 says, "It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for."
If only I knew that the approval of others did not mean anything to me, then I definitely think I would have been much happier a  few years ago. Some of you may not know what you want to pursue yet. Whatever you eventually decide to pursue, make sure that you can glorify God through that. When I started blogging, I was just blogging about style. I asked myself one day, "how can I glorify God through this new found hobby?" If you work as a cashier at a store or restaurant, just having a happy and loving attitude glorifies Christ. If you are a college student, being diligent and working hard glorifies God.

Our purpose here is to glorify God. My family and I say this prayer before every meal -- 1 Corinthians 10:31:
"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God".
Our purpose on this earth is to reflect our God who is in Heaven. He created us with immeasurable value. We are the sons and daughters of the Christ who delivered us from sins. How amazing is that?! I think it is super amazing.

You may think you are too small for making a difference. Trust me, you are not too small. God will use you in the mightiest way -- big or small.  I really like this quote from Christine Caine -
" You and I are chosen for a purpose. Healed for a purpose. Called for a purpose and that purpose always involves other people."

Wow. Our work do not save us. But our work for God, glorifies Him. If you think you are too small, then start small. Start with the little things. Smile. Be kind. The little things always make the biggest differences. Do something for others. Again, humility is something I need to work on. I like being on the top. God does not call us to be the best, He calls us to do our best for Him. Be a servant God. Start serving others in any way possible. You have a purpose. It is to glorify God through everything that you do.

How are you going to fulfill that purpose?
