Four Words, One Prayer

November 13, 2016

"He is jealous for me,
Love's like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realize just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.

And, oh, how He loves us, oh,
Oh, how He loves us,
How He loves us all"

As I sit in the front passenger seat of a loaded car, the stars continue to follow along. When I was younger I pressed my nose up against the window of our tiny vehicle and watched as the stars danced along side of us as we travelled. Yeah, yeah, what am I kidding, I still do that. I always believed that they followed us until I entered my science class one day. I love nights when the sky's black backdrop is covered with twinkly, little lights. as I watch tonight, I keep thinking of these lyrics -- "oh yeah He loves us". the stereo in my head repeats that one line like a broken record. He loves us. His love is so tangible and raw.
All I can think of tonight is His love. He pours so much into us despite the sin and temptation. He comforts us when we are weary. all I want to do is press my nose up against the window and be in wonder of His affection. Jesus, I love you. I don't say it enough while You repeat it to me everyday -- every second. my challenge for myself and you is to pray that daily. Jesus, I love you. pour out that love into others. love so radically and sacrificially that people notice that you are different. Pray those words of affection and let Him reveal to you His majesty.

Jesus, I love you.
